Are you a movie buff?

Are you one of those people that can see a movie one time and then quote the whole thing?

I'm horrible with movie quotes.

That may be because there are a lot of "classics" that I've never seen.

Family Movie Night

This weekend Andrew and I hosted a Family Movie Night.

We did this once before not long after we had gotten married.  Everyone came over to our little apartment and we enjoyed a Weaver Family Favorite...

We decided it time for another Family Movie Night.

I had been dreaming about a beautiful decorated porch, chili and baked potatoes, and an outdoor movie.

Our movie night was nothing like I had planned, but it was still a lot of fun.

We ordered pizza for dinner.

Kandace made a sign for the occasion...

Movie Night.  Up Late.  Candy.  Friends.

We had a nice little concession stand to enjoy during the movie.

Kandace helped fill those big red bowls with popcorn.

Andrew and Chris decided on the movie.  No one knew what it was until we pushed play...

Well almost no one.  I may have opened it up when it came in the mail.  

In my defense...I thought it was something I ordered.

They chose another Weaver Family  Favorite...

I had never seen this movie before.

It was hilarious.

I'm pretty sure Andrew quit breathing at one point from laughing so hard.

The next morning we got up and got ready to head out on The Liberty Belle for her last cruise of the season.

After lunch a few of set off to hike Sugarloaf Mountain.

The views from the top were amazing.

On the way back Andrew, Cody, and Pryce decided to go for a little swim.

There's always some kind of challenge thrown down when these three are together.

That water was way to cold to be swimming.

Though they would never admit it, I'm pretty sure they agreed.

They weren't in the water very long at all.

 
I couldn't get a good picture but we saw two deer swimming across the lake.

I have never seen this before.

It was very neat.

The Liberty Belle may have acquired a new captain this weekend.

She thought she was big stuff driving the boat.

Movie in the Park

Every summer movies are shown in the park at the River Market on Wednesday nights.  It's something I've always thought sounded fun but we hadn't ever done.

This past Wednesday night they showed Frozen.

When I saw that this was coming a few weeks ago I thought it would be fun to take our nieces.  Like every other little girl I know, they all LOVE the movie.  I immediately texted my sister-in-laws and started making plans.

Andrew immediately started looking into renting a 15 passenger van.  HA!  We weren't sure how we were going to transport 5 little girls.

Sadly our sweet Millie wasn't able to join us.

We picked up Joylyn and Kandace before the movie.

And Jill dropped Amelia and Sydney off at the park.

She gave him an earful.  He wasn't sure what she was saying but every sentence started with "My momma told me..."  At one point she claimed her momma told her to eat the cookies.  LOL!

We brought CFA and enjoyed a picnic before the movie.

The girls also enjoyed some pre-movie coloring.

At one point I looked over and Andrew was laying on his stomach coloring with the girls.

I was about to snap a picture when one of the girls decided it was time for a trip to the bathroom.

This is where my plan might not have been as well thought out as I had thought.

One aunt.

Four nieces.

Bathroom trip.

They all quickly discovered how disgusting outdoor bathroom facilities can be.  Amelia checked three different stalls before realizing they were all just as nasty as the previous one and she was going to have to line the toilet with toilet paper.  Kandace refused to let go of her nose because the smell was too much for her.  And Sydney must have been pretty disgusted too because as soon as we got back to our blankets she got her backpack and asked for hand sanitizer.  LOL!!

The movie doesn't start playing until dark.  The girls were so good to keep themselves entertained for the most part.  They love spending time with each other.

Before the movie actually started they put it up on the screen to adjust settings.  They had it on the screen where you can choose to play the movie, choose subtitles, etc.  Sydney didn't understand why they weren't pushing play.  She was getting quite frustrated with them.  She kept saying "Why they not push play?  Just push play?"

And finally when the sun was completely gone they did just that.  They pushed play.

We had a pretty good spot on the grass, though I did overhear Amelia ask her Uncle Andrew why he didn't get us front row seats.

Sydney sat in my lap almost the entire time, which I absolutely LOVED.  I was seriously impressed when the movie started playing.  That little girl knows EVERY SINGLE WORD.  She was saying every word the characters were saying.

By the time the movie started the park was packed.  You couldn't walk anywhere without walking on blankets and stepping over people.  And as you can imagine every kid there sang along with every song throughout the movie.

About half way through the movie Sydney decided she needed to go the bathroom.  So she and I along with Kandace climbed over all the people to go the bathroom.  I decided to take a different route back to our seat and we spotted Anna and Elsa.

Two teenage girls were dressed up and were being so sweet to say hi to all the little girls and even smile for a few pictures.  Of course as soon as we got back that was the first thing out of Kandace's mouth.  She was so excited to have seen them.

By the time we got to the bathroom both Sydney & Kandace decided they didn't really have to use the restroom so it wasn't long before I was taking all four girls back to the bathroom.

I'm not sure if they needed to go to the bathroom or if they wanted to see Anna and Elsa.

They did both.

They even got to see Anna and Elsa "perform" as the two teenage girls sang along with a song in the movie.

We tried to take a picture with them but it was too dark and didn't turn out.

Uncle Andrew may have been sweet talked into buying sno-cones at 10:00 at night after Amelia spotted the sno-cone truck.

Sydney thought it was hilarious that I kept taking a bite of hers.  Poor girl didn't even realize she didn't get her own like the big girls did.

I think the girls had a good time.  They asked if we would bring them back the next time there was a movie in the park.  I know Andrew and I had a good time.

Such sweet memories.

Our Anniversary Date

We had such a great time celebrating ten years yesterday.

As soon I woke up Andrew gave me my gift.  I love that it is hard for him to hang on to a gift when he is excited to give it to me.  

He gave me a beautiful diamond owl necklace.  It is so small & dainty.  I absolutely love it.  The picture doesn't do it justice.

I had planned to wait and give him his gift at dinner, but after opening my gift I couldn't wait anymore.

Andrew isn't exactly the easiest person to buy for.  But I knew exactly what I wanted to give him for our anniversary.  He has been wanting a new watch for quite some time.  I was a little nervous about it because I've never picked out a man's watch before. 

But he loved it!  Turns out I picked out the one he had been looking at for himself.

Andrew worked yesterday so once he was off work we went out for dinner & a movie.

We ate at a local BBQ place that we've been trying to go to forever.  Andrew ate there for lunch a couple of times but every time we tried to go together they seemed to be closed.

It was worth the wait.  So yummy!  I don't really eat ribs, but oh my goodness.  Theirs were sooo good.  I had to still a couple of bites from Andrew. 

After dinner we had about an hour before the movie started.  When we drove by our little theater though there were already a few people standing in line so we decided to join them.

We were easily the oldest people there.  I'm talking twice the age of everyone else in line.

It was pretty comical.  

Our theater is exactly what you would expect to find in a small town.

One show playing at a time.

It's great.  Like stepping back in time.  

That is until there is a movie that you really want to see and our little one show theater doesn't show it until weeks after it has been released.

That's right.  Our little theater just started showing Catching Fire this weekend. 

I finally convinced Andrew months ago to watch Hunger Games in preparation for this very event.  

I was pretty pumped to finally get to see Catching Fire.

And I WAS NOT disappointed.  It was AMAZING!

As in can I please go see it again today? kind of AMAZING.

With the books I seemed to like each one less than the previous one.  

Not the case with the movies.  Catching Fire was sooo much better than Hunger Games in my opinion.

And it totally leaves you hanging.  If I hadn't already read Mockingjay and know how it all turns out I would have been very upset.  

It was a great day!  I'm looking forward to the next ten years and then some.

Christmas Cinema

I will never forget my first Christmas as a married woman. It's one of those stories that Andrew and I will share with our children when they get married. It was a true test of our love for one another. Maybe I'll share it with you sometime. Let's just say for now it was a White Christmas and here in Arkansas white means ice not snow. That not so wonderful ice meant we spent the night with Andrew's parents on Christmas Eve. Don't get me wrong, I love my in-laws, but I wanted to be with my family. I was a little homesick.

There I go getting into this story that I wasn't going to share with you quite yet. Let's move on. So there we are at the in-law's house on Christmas Eve. A couple of Andrew's siblings were there along with there spouses. It was a Weaver tradition to just hang out and eat chili and drank apple cider. This particular year, my father-in-law was begging everyone to watch It's A Wonderful Life with him. No one wanted to watch it. They all claimed they had already watched it once that year. Some even claimed they had watched two or three times that year. Maybe they had. I was still a fairly new Weaver and being the shy girl that I am, I was just sitting there quietly taking it all in. Finally my father-in-law asked me if I had seen it this year. I remember meekly telling him that I had never seen the movie. His face lit up. He was so excited that he was going to get to share this with me. We watched the movie together as everyone drifted into another room to do their own thing.

Yes, before marrying my husband, I had never watched Its A Wonderful Life. Truth be told, I had never seen a black and white Christmas movie. They weren't on the list of must see movies. I was young and assumed that all black and white movies were boring.

Christmas movies are another one of those things that Andrew and I very rarely agree on. You see I love those cheesy made for TV Christmas movies. Every year I look forward to The 25 Days of Christmas on ABC Family. The husband...not so much. We do agree on a few good ones such as Charlie Brown Christmas, The Santa Clause (all 3), Polar Express, and one or two more.

A few years ago he introduced me to White Christmas and Holiday Inn. I LOVE these movies and they are now on the must see list every year. Next week, I'm going to see White Christmas in the theater. I'm really looking forward to it.

I have Holiday Inn set to record on my dvr as soon as it comes on this year. And even better, I have a copy of Holiday Inn on dvd for one of you. I want to share this classic with you.
