Friday Favorites: Hair and Beauty

I know I've shared about this line of hair products before but I seriously LOVE it.  I rarely use anything else but on the rare occasion that I do I can tell a difference.  I always have more little flyaway hairs when I don't use my Monat products.  Though it's not pictured their dry shampoo is by far the best dry shampoo I've ever used.

I have a drawer full of lipsticks and lip glosses but the one I always fall back on the very first tube of lipstick I ever bought.  It is Bamboo Pink by Clinique.  I love how it gives my lips some color and shimmer without being too bright.

I have dry skin year round, but this winter my face has been insanely dry.  I've had such a hard time with my make up this winter because of it.  I love a good face sheet mask and will do those on a pretty regular basis but I needed something I could use daily.  This moisturizer from Lush is IT!  I put this on my face every night before I go to bed and will sometimes use it as a primer in the morning before I put my makeup on.  It doesn't take a lot of it so this little tub will last me such a long time.

Once every couple of weeks I do a sheet mask in addition to the Lush moisturizer.  I've only tried two different kinds: Sephora's brand and this Tonymony from Ulta.  I love both of them so I haven't ventured out to try other brands.  I recently discovered a face mask subscription club so I might do that as a way to try others.

My First Glam Bag

I received my first glam bag in the mail from Ipsy last week.

I loved it immediately.

I mean how fun and girly is the shiny pink package?

Inside the pink Glam Bag was a cute little gold and black cosmetic bag.

I love this little bag and will be carrying it in my purse from here on out.

Probably my favorite item inside the bag was this liquid lipstick.

I normally wear lip gloss so I love that this is a liquid.  It last a long time - much longer than my lip gloss.  I like the color but I would like to try some other colors.

My least favorite item in the bag was this bronze eye shadow.

I'm not real good with eye shadows.  I do the same eye every day because it is all I know.  This color was a little too funky for me and I stink at liquid eye shadow.

I have mixed feelings about this lotion.  I love the lotion, but I am not a fan of the scent.

I tried this moist cream today.  This is where I show my cosmetics ignorance because I just didn't see the point.  I'm not sure what it was supposed to do but I couldn't tell it did anything for me.

The fifth and final item in the bag is this facial scrub.  I haven't tried it yet.  I have products similar to this one from Clinique that I love so I'm a little hesitant to try this one.

The Glam Bag made for a fun mail day.  I'm already anticipating my November bag.

Do you get the Glam Bag?

What was in your October bag?

A Fall Makeover

Without really meaning to I've been working toward a fall makeover.  About a week ago I asked mom to do this ab and squat challenge with me.

I started this challenge a long time ago but I quit before I ever finished.  That is why I wanted an accountability partner this time.  Mom and I text each other every day when we have completed our workout for the day.  Let me just tell you when your mother text you and says she has finished her workout for the day it tends to sound like her telling you to get your booty in gear and do your workout.  HA!!  We are six days and feeling every day of it.

I have the extra challenge of trying to do these exercises with my furbabies around.  It always takes me a little while to get started because this happens every single time...

I also decided I wanted to change up my makeup for fall.  I've never been much of a makeup girl so I'm not sure what inspired this need for a fall look.  I didn't want to spend a ton of money since I wasn't sure what I was going for so I went and picked up a few new things to try from Wal-Mart.

I wore the purplish lip gloss in the middle today and loved it.  I tried the eye shadow as well and quickly learned I know nothing about eye makeup.  I normally don't wear anything more than mascara.  I'm going to have to find some good eye make up tutorials.

Do you have any tips?

Monday Rambles

1. I have officially become that girl who is constantly checking her makeup and redoing lip gloss. I figure as long as I don't become one of those girls who does this while driving, I'm okay.

2. Back in January I gave up all Pepsi product because I received an email saying that they supported homosexuality. I must admit I'm impressed with the fact that I've done this as easily as I have. But now I wonder.... I know Pepsi is not the only company that supports things I disagree with. But am I really going to research every company that makes something I spend money on? No... just isn't going to happen. So then isn't it contradictory that I don't buy one product, but do another? Does it really matter that I don't buy Pepsi if I'm not willing to research everything else I buy?

3. When my alarm went off at 6:30 this morning, I realized that having my quiet time first thing in the morning is much easier when I can sleep in until 9:30.

Okay so I don't have as much to tell you as I thought. Maybe something more exciting later this week.

Happy Monday!

What Not To Wear with the BEST Husband!!!

I love TLC's What Not To Wear. I keep telling family and friends that I want to go on that show. I won't be offended at all if someone calls them up and says I dress poorly. :) Last night while reading The Power of a Positive Wife, I decided I was going to have my very own What Not To Wear experience. In case you were wondering, it was a chapter on inner beauty. She talked about wrapping a present and by doing a little to our outward appearance, it was like wrapping a present for our husband. She also reminded me that my body is not my own, it is a temple for God. Why wouldn't I want it to look as pretty as possible for my Heavenly Father?

Anyway, I didn't have anyone present me with a $5,000 card like on the show so I knew I had to be creative. I started with my hair. I went to Mastercuts in the mall. I know this mortifies some people, but I just didn't want to spend a ton of money for a haircut. I was feeling brave and didn't care who cut my hair. Well let me just tell you I love my $15 dollar hair cut. She pretty much just trimmed up the back. Andrew wasn't crazy about me cutting it too short. He likes it long so I just made a more dramatic look with the bangs.

Then I went into my favorite store... Forever 21. Jill, I love you for introducing me to this place. It is cute close at a reasonable price. I got both the necklace and the dress for under $20. I love it and think it will be just as cute this fall with my jean jacket.

Then I went to the Clinique counter in Dillards. I just told the woman... I don't wear makeup because I have no clue how. She did up my face teaching me as we went and I wound up buying $60 worth of their makeup. I didn't buy the eye makeup. I went to Wal-Mart afterwards to buy some eye makeup and brushes.

Then we came home and I straightened my hair because they didn't style it at the mall. I put on my dress and necklace and then just pranced around the house.

I love it!! I just want to cry because I'm so happy with all of it. I just hope that I can recreate it in the morning. While Laura was doing my makeup, Andrew asked if she was going to come to the house and do it for me every morning. LOL! I would really love that.

And yes, my sweet sweet husband tagged along for all of this. Who needs Clinton and Stacy's comical comments when you have Andrew along? He was so good walking all over the mall and waiting patiently why people were working on me. Thank you babe for this afternoon!!!

Whether I look any better or not, I don't know, but I sure feel better!!
