All the Countdowns

March Madness tournament starts in three days.

Y'all this is the only time of year I really watch college basketball but I LOVE it.  If you've been around since last March you know our family has a little bracket competition each year.

The smack talking is a little intense, but oh so much fun.

I have two goals each year....don't come in dead last and beat Andrew.

This year there will be a trophy so maybe I'll have three goals this year.

I'm taking it a step further this year and creating a little competition with some of my students.  I can totally make this a little math lesson right?

This is the last week before Spring Break.

No big plans other than an orthodontist appoint, an eye doctor appoint, and sleeping in every day.

Oh and lots of cleaning and organizing.

Getting ready for a fun party.

Our Masters Watching/Joint Birthday Party.

We are going to celebrate Andrew's birthday along with our nephew Cody's birthdays.

The guys will play golf and then we will lunch and watch the Masters.

I'm having fun planning and learning about the Masters.

Andrew bought us tickets for Memphis in May.

I may be just a little excited to see Megan Trainor.

And last but not least the planner in me is looking forward to summer and days of workshops.  My mind is already thinking about next year and ideas I want to try and themes for my classroom.

Sunday Randomness

{one}

Today is my last day with my spacers and I could not be more excited.  They are designed to create space between my teeth so that Dr. Lay can put a band around my teeth.

And though I'm pretty sure I haven't had the pain that most people have thanks to my extractions and the fact that those teeth have space to move into, they haven't exactly been enjoyable.  It has been excruciatingly painful to chew on those back teeth the past couple of days.  I assume that is because the spacers are doing their job.  I'm ready to have them removed tomorrow morning even though it means a new kind of pain with the bands and wires that I will receive.

On a more fun note my sweet concert-loving husband bought us tickets to see James Taylor this summer.  I can't wait.  We saw him a few years ago and it was an amazing show.

The concert is the night before we leave for vacation so it will be a great way to kick off a week of relaxation and fun in the sun.

Today is Selection Sunday.  I have filled out my bracket and am now waiting not so patiently for other family members to complete theirs and for games to begin.  I feel like my bracket is ridiculous which is ridiculous because I have no idea what I'm doing.  It's fun though.  My goal is always to not come in last place and to beat Andrew.

We are trying to be better about eating at home and eating healthier, but yesterday we tried a new Mexican restaurant in town.

They make homemade cheese dip and guacamole.  Andrew declared their guacamole the best in town.  The food was delicious and the service was incredibly friendly.  We will definitely be eating there again and probably in the near future.

Friday morning I drug out some of my spring clothes in search of my Pi Day shirt.  It made me ready for skirts and flowery prints.  Don't get me wrong.  I love my boots and my scarves, but I'm over them.  I'm ready for beautiful spring weather that last longer than a day or two.

March Madness

Sweet Sixteen.
Elite Eight.
Final Four.
Brackets.
Seed.
March Madness.

This time every year college basketball takes over my TV.   Though I don't mind it, I haven't really been into it since 1994 when the Arkansas Razorbacks won the championship.  And let's be honest, I was 11 then so I'm not sure how into it I really was.  I just knew every one around me was really excited.  I was really just enjoying watching those games with my Daddy.

This year I decided it would be fun to make a bracket and have a nice friendly competition with the husband.  Of course I had no idea what I was doing.  He told me to make my bracket at espn.com and we could create a group.  We extended the competition to the Weaver fam.

There are five of us.  The hubs and I plus Uncle Kevin, Andrew's brother Chris, and two nephews - Cody and Pryce.

My goal?  I don't want to be last and I don't want the husband to win, which right now he totally is.

I don't know that I've watched a college basketball game all year until this week.  I didn't really have a method in picking my teams.  I just went with the team name I liked best.  :)  They say that people who don't know anything about basketball normally do pretty well with their brackets.

I was really hoping my ignorance would work in my favor.

It's fun watching games with the husband, especially when we have picked different teams to win that particular game.

Oh my!  The trash talking has been intense.

And humorous.  Remember I know nothing about this.

A friend of mine and her husband helped their three young daughters fill out brackets.  They are having fun cheering and competing as a family.

I now have a new tradition I want to do with my family.

The hubs and I have different teams winning the championship.  I'm the only one of our five that has Kansas winning this thing.

Go Jayhawks!!
