We've been planning for weeks and yesterday the day finally arrived.
Our First Annual Porch Party.
It started with the turning the porch into America.
Thank you again Krystal for the tulips. They were a beautiful touch to the party.
The girls decorated cupcakes while the guys grilled.
I'd crack a joke about how many men it takes to grill, but the food was AMAZING!!
After we stuffed ourselves it was time for portaits.
Pictures were followed by some cool down time inside. Several weeks ago Andrew came up with a great idea. We all bought a few items to put together as a care package for soldiers. We are so incredibly thankful for the sacrifice they make for our country. A care package is such an easy way for us to say thank you. The little girls decorated cards to put in the boxes.
I enjoyed getting to talk to them about soldiers and why it was important for us to say thank you to them. Of course Amelia informed us that the most important thing in the world is that Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Such a PK! HA!
But she is so right! And we got to talk about how soldiers defend our country so that we can go to church where we want and when we want.
Sending care packages is going to be a Weaver family Memorial Day tradition.
If you and your family would like to send a care package it is easy and affordable to do. We used
www.anysoldier.com to get addresses for deployed troops. There are hundreds of units signed up with info about themselves, where they are from, and the conditions where they are deployed. Most units have quite a few people; more than any of us could provide for on our own. The site will tell you how many men and women are in the unit and how many other people have requested their address to send them packages.
We encourage you and your family to send a care package to say "thank you" to the men and women who make this the greatest country in the world.
Card making was followed by much needed naps.
for everyone.
Nap Time gave everyone their energy back and then it was Game ON!
Brothers VS. Brothers
Then the girls gave it a try.
Amelia has some serious skills. Girl is an athlete.
Of course little sister wants to do everything big sister does. It was funny watching Sydney try to keep up with the big girls.
A little croquet.
There was something for everyone.
Including chairs for the spectators.
I think a good time was had by all. I know Andrew & I enjoyed it. We only hope that our whole family will be able to attend the next porch party. We missed those that couldn't be with us yesterday.
