Spring Break 2015

I am absolutely loving the weather we are having this week.

It is gorgeous outside.

The guys are appreciative of it too.

They are working hard on The Barn.

The Barn will be storage, a shop for Andrew's woodworking tools, and his new office space.

Got to make room in the house for our babies to come home.

I call them our babies, but we aren't expecting to adopt babies.  They are school aged kids.

But they will still be my babies.

The Barn is going to be huge.

I know Andrew is thankful to have Pryce and Big Man here this week to help him.

They are making memories.

My job is to keep them fed and hydrated.  I'm pretty sure I've cooked more this week than in my entire life.

And you know what?

I've enjoyed every minute of the cooking, cleaning, and laundry.

It blesses my heart to serve the guys.

I've attempted and succeeded in making some traditional Weaver meals this week.

Not going to lie.  I'm pretty proud of myself.

Mexican Dish was my first adventure.  The guys loved it.

Even I liked it.

My second adventure was chocolate gravy and biscuits.

Thank you to my sweet brother-in-law, Chris, for walking me through an easy recipe.

In the moments I haven't been cooking or cleaning I have been tucked away in my office working on a couple of scrapbooks.

I've missed scrapbooking.  It's therapy for me.

It's something I hope my daughters enjoy doing so that we can scrapbook together.

It's been a good week.

My First Etsy Store Sale

I opened an etsy store awhile back. I'd love to fill it with beautiful scrapbooks for sale, but I just haven't had the time. I haven't even been scrapbooking for me. I'm learning that it's okay to do a page at a time. I don't have to sit down and do an entire album in one night. With the suggestion of Chelsey, I've also made a list of projects I want/need to complete. I hope these two things will help me scrapbook on a more regular basis. I really do love it. It is such a great relaxation for me.

Last week I sold my first item on etsy. I was stoked! I ended up selling her two things for a birthday party for her triplets. How cool is that? She is doing a mickey mouse party.

I had the privilege of making the birthday banner. Here are a few pics. Please ignore the fact that my floors need to be cleaned. :) I told you, I'm working on it one thing at a time. Accountability people accountability.

Scrap Projects

I mentioned in my last post that I had been working to finish up some long overdue scrapbook projects. I scrapped all day yesterday and am doing the same today.

I should probably be working on stuff for school and getting my classroom ready, but since this is my last week off....I'm going to enjoy it!!

Here's a peek at what I've been working on. I used my Instagram app to change the coloring a bit...they just look neater that way. :)

Project 365

I set out back in January with the intent of completing Project 365. I had the same goal in 2009. I made it all the way to March that year. I'm proud to say that I've actually completed it this year. My scrapbook isn't actually finished because I'm ordering my pictures a few at a time. It gets expensive. But I did manage to take a picture for every single day this year and I hope to have it completely finished by the end of January.

I've been debating on whether or not to do it again in 2011. I enjoy looking back at what we've done over the year, but it is a lot of work. I know that I definitely don't want to "scrapbook" it again this year. That takes way to much time. I don't think I worked on any other scrapbooks this year, because every chance I had to scrapbook I worked on my 365 album.

I really think I want to do it though, because we have so many potential big things for 2011 and I want to record those. So I'm thinking I will start a 365 blog. I will just post my picture and blog each day. Then at the end of the year I will do that blog to book thing. I'm hoping this will be far easier and less time consuming.

Open for Business

Well it's official! I've opened an etsy shop. Of course it is empty right now, but I have one. My plan is to put together some premade scrapbooks where all you do is add the pictures. I have no idea if they will sale or not, probably not, but I'm goign to give it a try.

I went to a scrapbook store while we were in Alabama. It was amazing store. I haven't been in a true scrapbook store in what feels like forever. It's a wonder I didn't spend every last penny and then some in that store. I found so many things. I came home with some cute ideas that I can't wait to get started on.

It's how I plan to spend my day tomorrow...locked up in my scrapbook room working away. Hopefully tomorrow evening I will have things to share with you and at least one item in my etsy store.

The Weekend

Something about not going to work today makes posting about my weekend feel a little strange. It doesn't feel like it's over yet, but I guess by definition, it is over.

Friday night involved a relaxing evening at home with the husband. We had considered going to Winter Jam, but ended up not going. I was feeling 100% and he had to work late. By the time we had gotten there, we would have been in the nose bleed section. We decided to take front row seats in our bed to March Madness instead.

I realized Friday night that I've never really watched March Madness before. I know what it is and I watch the final game or so, but I've never watched it this early on. I never realized that all these teams are playing all at the same time. It is totally designed for men. I would get into a game and then the TV would take away that game and give me a different one. I mean seriously. You don't even have to lift the remote to channel surf. Very frustrating to a girl like me who hates channel surfing.

And the commercials. I don't watch commercials anymore thanks to this wonderful little invention called DVR. Commercials are just stupid these days. AWFUL!!

Anyway.

Saturday was a beautiful day! Andrew spent the morning working on the gate to our fence. It was in pretty bad shape and we have been fearful of escape from the insider (Liberty Belle). While he did this, I ventured out to Kirklands and Old Navy for something for spring.

I wanted this from Kirklands They didn't have any. Not they didn't have any W's. They didn't have any flags at all.

I wanted this from Old Navy

It didn't fit.

A little bummed, I headed home to see how things were going with the husband. Thankfully, he had much better luck with the fence. After lunch and a bit of rest, it was off to the garage to work on my desk. He hasn't worked on it in a little over a month, but we made some good progress Saturday. It is so close to being finished. Look at what a monstrosity he is building for me.

Just for comparison, here is a shot of me laying on the desk. :)

Sunday we slept in and then got ready for some more shopping. Andrew wanted to go look at tents and sleeping bags for his 3 day bike trip he is planning. I wanted to go check out the scrapbook section at Tuesday Morning.

Tuesday Morning turned out to be a great stop. Andrew found two sleeping bags that only weight 1.9 pounds for $20 each. Light weight is important because he will be carrying them while riding a bicycle. Of course, he had to try them out when we got home. It was too funny to not take a picture. Liberty & Liam loved this sleeping bag because they could kiss all over Daddy. :)

I found an 18X24 cutting mat for my new scrapbooking desk. It was a steal for $9. Love it. Also bought a chipboard album and some paper.

Sunday night we went to Journey Church. Tonight was Cary and Sara's last night. They are moving to Missouri to pastor a church there. After church we all went to U.S. Pizza to say good bye. We don't spend just a ton of time with them now that we aren't at Journey, but I'm sure going to miss them. They are definitely some of our favorite people. Here are just a few pictures from the night. There will be more to come later.

Not Me! Monday

I did NOT finally go the doctor this morning after having NOT put it off for a month. There is NOT a possibility of surgery in foot's future. This does NOT scare me to death. That would only happen to a wimp.

I have NOT spent my four day weekend in a funky mood. I have NOT avoided school work like the black plague.

I have NOT spent all day cleaning my scrapbook room only to make a slight mess again. I am NOT working on an album that is all about our first year of marriage. After all, we've been married six years.

My husband is NOT sitting in his room playing Nintendo and screaming like a little kid. He is NOT acting like Nintendo is a new invention. I did NOT just come out of room after screaming and stopping because I lost Super Mario Kart on Super Nintendo. I am NOT the least bit concerned that my husband is finished cleaning now that he has game systems set up again.

Snow Day + Scrapbooking = 1 Long Post

People started talking last week, around Wednesday I think. A few weathermen were calling for snow Monday and Tuesday. One even went as far as to promise breakfast to one lucky viewer, if it didn't snow. I didn't believe this for one second. I mean it had only been a few days since we had gotten snow/ice. That rarely happens twice a year in Arkansas. The week went on and with a very busy weekend, I completely forgot about the possibility of snow.

Until last night that is. There were facebook status about the snow that was supposed to be coming. I just figured that it would all be in the northern part of the state and those poor people were going to be in school all summer, bless their hearts. So needless to say, I was a bit suprised this morning when Drew got up to let the dogs out at 5:30 and came back saying it was white outside. The ground was covered. I had to get up and look for myself. This is what I found outside this morning.

Once I got the phone call from school confirming that school was cancelled, I went back to sleep. I slept until 10:30 and I must say, it was nice. Somewhere in the time, Drew went to work. Around 11:30 or 12, I looked out and couldn't believe that it was still snowing and getting whiter outside. I bundled Liam Bailey and myself up and out we went. He had never seen snow like this, and let me tell you, that little boy is not a fan. I shouldn't be suprised by this. I know the little guy doesn't like cold weather. Liberty, however, was dying to go out. She loves the snow. I took her in the backyard so she could run around and play without being on a leash.

I stood outside while Liberty played for about 30 minutes. During that time I couldn't help but to sing and praise our God. Snow is one of those things that I see and just think of God. It was so beautiful outside. Everything was gleaming white and these huge flakes were falling just as fast as they could. It is a wonderful reminder that our God washes us white as snow. Our sins are covered by his love.

While I spent most of the morning reading, I managed to get a little scrapbooking done. At the request of a friend, I thought I would share with you some of the things I've been working on the past few weeks. Let me warn you now that I'm still working on perfecting my skills at taking pictures of my layouts.

Here is a Valentine's card I made for my Mommom. Very simple, but I think it is the first card I've ever made that didn't end up in the trash. I'm actually somewhat pleased with out it turned out.

Last Sunday, I finished the first album that I'm keeping. Everything else I've finished I've given away. They've been things like ABC Baby albums, Mother's Day gifts, and Father's Day gifts.

The album I finished was of Weaver family vacation 07. I started it back in 07 and am just now finishing it. I know, it's sad. I'm glad I decided to scrapbook this particular year. Andrew and I haven't got to go on this vacation since then, and to be honest I can't see us ever being able to go again. It is taken during September and I just can't bring myself to miss a week of school as soon as I get back to school. Either way, here are a couple of pages from that album.

And last but not least, a few pages from my Project 365. These are fairly plain layouts. With so many pictures, it's hard to make it too interesting. :)

This is my title page. There will be a picture there eventually, just don't have one I like well enough yet.

Haven't ordered the pictures from this one yet. Love this paper though.

I guess I was feeling a little purple when I did this one last night. I'm not sure that I like it. I'm hoping once I add the pictures it will be okay.

So there is a sample of what I've been up to. I'm sure there will be more to come.

I plan to answer the questions you all have asked sometime this week. All two of them. HA!! Surely more of you have quetions. I hope I'm not that boring. :)

My Scrapbook Room

If you have read this blog at all the past few weeks, you know that I'm in the process of renewing and improving my scrapbook room. You also know that I am so stinkin' excited about it.

Why am I so excited? Well, I've only been waiting a year or more for this new and improved desk and room. In March 2008, my husband completed and installed my first desk. It was very simple. Basically a platform on two boxes that went from one wall to another. It looked like this.

I was very excited to have such a large workspace. The bottom was supposed to have shelves and doors on both sides. However, due to time and schedules this desk never got finished. In fact not long after it was installed we started putting down our hardwood floor and the it had to be taken out.

During this time, my husband decided he didn't like and could make me something better. He tore my first desk apart and used the wood to build tables for his shop.

Now it is January 2010 and we are making some serious progress on my new desk. My husband doesn't work as quickly as I would like for him to, but when he does work, he does GOOD work. He has been working on hard on my desk for the past few weeks. Once he finally starts a project it's go go go until it's finished.

So anyways... back to the scrapbook room as it is right now.

Here is where I'm currently scrapbooking. We bought me a folding table at Wal-Mart to work on until my desk was finished. This is also the wall that my old desk and new desk will be on.

Here is what my new desk looks like as of right now.

There will be one box on either side of the window. The open side of each box is going to be three drawers. One of them will actually just be a platform that my inspiration will sit on. This way it doesn't take up space on my desk.

For those of you who don't know what an inspiration is, here is a picture.

It hooks up to your computer. It will cut out letters, pictures, or whatever you have on your computer. Very Cool.

Back to the desk. Above the desk there will be open shelves for more storage.

I also have my big ugly green shelf for storage. Here is what that looks like. There is also a close up of the shelf color and the wall color.

I'm still trying to decide what color I want to paint the desk. I really want purple. That is what I've been envisioning this entire time. A deep purple. The color of this stand is actually the color I was originally thinking.

I really like this purple and how it looks with the blue walls and green shelf. I guess I'm just starting to worry that it will be too much purple. I mean this isn't a small desk.

So I've started playing around with other ideas. I was thinking about making the inset panels a different color like maybe a lighter purple. Or doing the frame is like a gray or something and doing the doors my dark purple.

I don't know. I can't seem to make up my mind. Any suggestions? What do you think? I'm open to all suggestions.

But that is where we are on my scrapbook room. I cannot wait for it to all be finished.

Oh... and between the desk and the open shelves that will be above, we are going to cover cork with fabric and do the criss cross ribbon. This will give me a place to put pictures. Obviously these aren't my colors, but it shows what I'm talking about.

I also want something like this somewhere in my room to hold layouts.

Soon it will be all finished and you may not ever hear from me again. I will busy scrapbooking. :)
