Home Building

I posted a couple of weeks ago that the husband and I were discussing buying some land and building a house.

The discussion has continued and I think a decision has been made. Before I can let you in on the decision, I need to back and fill you in on the discussions that have taken place over the past few days.

** Because the first piece of land that we found was a good 45 minutes or more from my job, we continued to look. The husband found 3.5 acres that was only 15 minutes from my job. The nice part is this piece of land doesn't really make the husband's commute that much longer than it is now. We fell in love with this land.

**There was a lot of discussion and possibly a few tears about floor plans and house designs. House designing has been a bit of a challenge. While we like a lot of the same things, our taste seems to be totally different at the same time. The husband eventually designed a split level that we both loved.

**The more we looked into everything, the more financial challenges that seem to rear their ugly heads. That leads us to the the decision that we have made. It's not the fun decision, but it is the wise decision. We are going to put off the house building project. We thought about going ahead and buying the land and building later, but that doesn't seem to be working out either. We know that if we were meant to have that land, it will still be there when we are ready to build. If not, that's okay too. I believe we will find another piece of land that we love just as much.

Sometimes being a grown up and making these "wise" decisions isn't all fun and games. But I know this is the right decision for us right now and I'm okay with that. The whole process will be so much better when the time is right.

We are finally making some process on paying off our debt. Now that I can see the progress, this affects all of our decisions. We have already decided no twice because it would hinder our progress.

  1. Way to go on making a dent in your debt! That held us back for such a long time. The Lord worked the timing out perfectly for us though and I know He will do the same for you.

  2. Yes, wise decisions are often difficult ones - but they pay off in the long-run. Proud of you two!
