A Look Back at 2012

Another year has come and gone.  2012 was good to Andrew and me.

We celebrated eight years of marriage in January with Andrew taking a flying lesson.

I attended a fun Valentine's Day Party for a sweet little girl in February.

We welcomed a new niece to our family in March.

My brother and I went to see the much anticipated The Hunger Games.

April brought Andrew's 31st birthday and a Girl's Night Out concert.

April was also a very hard month for us.  This was the month Liberty & Liam ran away.  Lib was gone for four days before find her way home.  We said goodbye to Liam Bailey this month.  We never found him.  We still miss him and think of him often.

June rolled around and I decided to take up the sport of golf.  The husband was my coach - a pretty good one if I do say so.

Andrew took some time off work in July and we enjoyed some time together at home.  He helped me do some work in my classroom.

We welcomed our newest nephew, William Cary.

Later that month I had the best time travelling to Virginia with my Mommom, Aunt Tammy, & cousin, Shawna. We laughed so hard and had such a good time.

I celebrated my 29th birthday in August.

I stopped biting my nails and got my first pedicure.

The best part of August was when we welcomed our  newest family member, Lincoln Baxter.  We love this little guy.  He has such a fun personality.

September = Football!  We had tickets to the two Razorback games in Little Rock.  Our team was not very good to say the least, but we still had lots of fun at the games.

Lots of big events in October.  Lib & Lincoln decided to let us in on their little secret.  Turns out they are superheroes.

The biggest event of the month and maybe even the year happened early this month.  My brother got married which means I got a new sister-in-law.  We love her! :)

November was the beginning of change.  As we celebrated Thanksgiving and purchased a new car, Andrew began to consider a new job.

After much prayer and consideration, Andrew accepted the job and life began to change in December.  Christmas Day brought a blizzard to Arkansas.  The last few days of this month, we have been busy moving into House B, where Andrew will live without me for the next few months.  He starts his new job on the 2nd, but I won't be joining him until the end of the school year.

We look forward to 2013 and all the adventures it holds.

We Are Never Ever Ever Getting Back Together

Snow and I are no longer friends.  In fact I HATE snow.

Strong? Yes.

Irving Berlin clearly did not have to worry about electricity or heat when he wrote I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas.

The snow started Tuesday night around 6:00.  I'm not sure what time it stopped, but it dropped well over six inches.

This would have been fine and dandy but the "blizzard" also knocked out our power.  You read that right.  In Arkansas six to ten inches is considered a blizzard. We are not equipped to deal with this much snow at one time.

We lost power around 11 pm Tuesday night.
Andrew left for a business trip yesterday morning.

I was left here with our two crazy animals.  We made it just fine yesterday. I got out for a few hours to get food and charge my phone in the car.

Last night I opened the garage door and watched Friends while eating dinner in the Benz.

Andrew received a little flashlight in his stocking for Christmas.  I used that little light to read all night.

Once it was time for bed I added two fleece blankets to the bed and put on an extra layer of clothes.  Add two warm dogs and I made it through the night just fine.

Today I lost it.  I was going crazy.  I found a hotel in a town 45 miles away.  That was the closest one that had a room available.  They even had a room that was pet friendly.

The dogs and I loaded up and headed out.  We got there before check in time so I was sitting in a parking lot watching Friends (I love my car) and having lunch.  A friend who lives in my subdivision text me and said she had power.

I cancelled my hotel room and we drove the 45 miles back home.  On the way home my windshield was hit and cracked by a rock.

I wanted to cry!

I got home only to discover that I still didn't have power.  Every street in my subdivision had power except mine.

At that point I did cry!!

My friend that had text me said I could spend the night with her.  She was even willing to put up with my dogs.  :)

There was a truck from the electric company working in our neighborhood so I held off.

Four hours later I was still without power and getting ready to go to her house, when the most wonderful thing happened.

Our power came back on.

There are still LOTS of people in Arkansas who are without power.  The electric company is saying it could be seven days or longer before some places are restored.

I can't imagine going through this with little ones or elderly family members.

I pray for those without power - that they would find a way to stay warm and safe.

I also pray for those out there working to restore power.  It can't be a fun job.  I know it is a dangerous job.

Christmas: Weaver Style

With the move coming up soon (just days away) we decided not to put our Christmas tree up this year.  We had piddled around and then didn't see the point in putting it up for a couple of weeks just to take it down again.

With no tree, I have struggled to get into the Christmas spirit.

Our Christmas celebrations started on Sunday.  We had dinner, opened a few gifts, and enjoyed the company of some of Andrew's family.

Andrew received a boat from his Uncle Kevin & Aunt Sandi.  We got a good laugh out of that.

I posted here about early portraits at Uncle Kevin's.  Here is our 2012 Christmas picture.

The husband with his brothers.

This is my niece, Jessica.  Love getting to spend time with her.  She's a sweetheart.

Christmas Eve, we got up and headed to north to Mommom's.   More good food, presents, and family time.

I love that my fam can be silly and have fun.

Some family portraits...

Sawyer requested a portrait by himself. :)

We headed to my parent's house after we finished at Mommom's.

Mom pulled out a box of stuff from when Seth and I were growing up.  While we were going through it and laughing, she mentioned Seth's band uniform was still in his closet.

Oh my Goodness!  I couldn't resist putting it on reliving a few good laughs from my band days.

This morning we got up and had breakfast.  I made these sausage things I found on Pinterest. My friend, Traci, had made them and said they were a big hit at her house.  Pinterest did not disappoint.  They were so very yummy.

We headed north to see Andrew's parents after breakfast.  We were only able to stay for a couple of hours before we decided to head back home.  We are definitely bummed that we missed seeing all his sibling, but we made it home just in time.  It has been snowing pretty hard for the past four hours.

Crazy!  I gotta tell ya....I'm not a fan of a white Christmas.

The husband has to go out of town tomorrow.  It will be his last trip for his current employer.

Back to the snow...we're pretty sure Lincoln Baxter LOVES the snow.  We put them out to use the bathroom earlier and he came back in SOAKING WET!  He must have rolled around in it.  Crazy little dog.
